Il est accompagn\u00e9 des plus anciens navires jumeaux l&rsquo;<em>Ivernia <\/em>et <em>Saxonia<\/em>, mis en service le 5 mai 1903. Apr\u00e8s neuf ans de carri\u00e8re , il est le sauveur des naufrag\u00e9s du <em>Titanic<\/em>, apr\u00e8s le naufrage de ce dernier le 14 avril 1912 \u00e0 4h00. En \u00e9vitant de nombreux icebergs, le premier canot monte \u00e0 bord \u00e0 4h 10 et le dernier canot monte accompagn\u00e9 du commandant <em>Charles Lightoller<\/em>, le 2\u00e8me officier du commandant<em> du Titanic: Edward John Smith<\/em>. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 torpill\u00e9 le 17 juillet 1918 par le Uterseeboot-55 (U-55).
