MARS 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Welcome to Reunion island!<\/strong>Our Irish pen pals arrived on Monday 24th March 2025. They were 9 students accompanied by their French professor (Mrs Staunton) and their Principal (Mrs Oonagh McCaul). They took 2 planes, from Dublin to Paris, then from Paris to Reunion Island. They traveled for 13 hours. The pen pals suffered from the heat and they were also very tired because of the time difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 1:  <\/strong>Tuesday 25<\/strong><\/u><\/em>th <\/strong><\/u><\/sup><\/em>: WELCOMING OUR PEN-PALS<\/strong><\/u><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the morning, we decorated the school with Irish and French flags and posters. We blew up blue, white and red balloons representing the French flag and green, white and orange balloons representing the Irish flag.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, we greeted our pen-pals and had a traditional brunch with some local fruits and cakes made by the students and the parents. We offered them welcoming gifts from Reunion Island.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the break, we did a school tour with our pen pals. We finally went to the sports field to practice the traditional games and get ready for the mini-Olympic games.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019apr\u00e8s-midi \u00e0 13h30 nous avions rendez-vous au gymnase du coll\u00e8ge pour une pr\u00e9sentation et une d\u00e9monstration du maloya par Mr Coupama et les \u00e9l\u00e8ves du club maloya.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les correspondants ont d\u00e9couvert des instruments traditionnels tels que le Kayamb, le Triangle, le Roul\u00e8r\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour d\u00e9tendre l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re on a pratiqu\u00e9 plusieurs petits jeux, souvent en rapport avec les battements du roul\u00e8r. Les filles du club, v\u00eatues de leurs robes maloya, sont venues faire une d\u00e9monstration de la danse maloya.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Par la suite les filles de la classe LCE, v\u00eatues aussi de la tenue traditionnelle, sont mont\u00e9es sur sc\u00e8ne pour accompagner les danseuses.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A la fin du spectacle, tous les \u00e9l\u00e8ves fran\u00e7ais et irlandais, accompagn\u00e9s des professeurs, ont dans\u00e9 le maloya.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Come nou di allon kraze un bon Maloya tous ensemble !!!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 2 : <\/strong>Wednesday 26<\/strong>th : <\/strong><\/sup>Visit of Terre Sainte<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le jour 2, on a pris un bus de ville pour aller \u00e0 la gare de Saint-Pierre. De l\u00e0, on a march\u00e9 jusqu\u2019au Kayak mais malheureusement on n\u2019a pas pu faire l\u2019activit\u00e9 car il y avait des bact\u00e9ries dans l\u2019eau. On \u00e9tait tous vraiment d\u00e9\u00e7us !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a alors rejoint les correspondants dans la ville de Terre Sainte et les professeurs nous ont donn\u00e9 une fiche pour guider notre visite: rep\u00e9rage de diff\u00e9rents lieux et questions. On a visit\u00e9 plusieurs ruelles et d\u00e9couvert des fresques magnifiques. Des escaliers nous ont conduit \u00e0 un point de vue sur la mer mais aussi sur \u00ab la croix des p\u00eacheurs \u00bb. On a pu admirer des \u0153uvres de \u00ab gouzou \u00bb sur les murs de Terre Sainte, des petites maisons jaunes avec des images de p\u00eacheurs, les canons au bord de la mer.\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour finir, on a march\u00e9 jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la gare pour rentrer au coll\u00e8ge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C\u2019\u00e9tait bien de red\u00e9couvrir Terre Sainte et de faire d\u00e9couvrir ce quartier \u00e0 nos correspondants.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On day 2, we took a bus to go to the Saint-Pierre station. When we arrived there, we walked to the kayak but unfortunately we couldn\u2019t do the kayak because there were bacteria in the water. We were all really disappointed.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After, we joined the pen pals in Terre Sainte city, the teachers gave us a document and we had to search for different places in the city. We visited several alleys, we had to search a sign that was marked \u00ab la croix des p\u00eacheurs \u00bb. After we went up the stairs, which led us to a great view over the sea but also to \u00ab la croix des p\u00eacheurs \u00bb.We went back down on the road to look at graffitis of the \u00ab gouzou \u00bb on the walls of Terre Sainte. We walked to little yellow houses to see the pictures of fishermen. We went to the beach to take some pictures and we walked on the pier to admire the view of the coastline. We discovered a fresco of a huge goldfish and we went to see the cannons by the sea. Finally, we went back to the station to go back to college. That was nice to rediscover Terre Sainte.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 3: <\/strong>Thursday 27<\/strong>th<\/strong><\/sup>, Grand Anse : \u00ab Les mini – olympiades \u00bb \/ The mini-Olympic games<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous avons pris le bus et r\u00e9cuper\u00e9 nos correspondants \u00e0 Terre sainte avant de prendre la direction de Grand Anse. Sur place, apr\u00e8s un \u00e9chauffement, on a particip\u00e9 aux mini-olympiades par \u00e9quipe. Chaque \u00e9quipe devait faire une course relais. Voici les 5 jeux ga\u00e9liques et cr\u00e9oles choisis pour ces olympiades : la course goni, le rugby, le football ga\u00e9lique, la brouette et le limbo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous avons constitu\u00e9 5 \u00e9quipes de 5 \u00e0 6 joueurs irlandais et cr\u00e9oles :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the mini-Olympics, we went hiking on \u00ab\u00a0Le Piton de grand Anse\u00a0\u00bb. At the end of the hike there was a beautiful viewpoint over the beach and the mountains. The pen pals were very hot the walk lasted 30 minutes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 4: <\/strong>Friday 28<\/strong>th<\/strong><\/u><\/sup>, Journ\u00e9e au volcan \/ <\/strong>Volcano day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le vendredi, nous sommes all\u00e9s au volcan avec nos correspondants. Les correspondants nous ont rejoint au coll\u00e8ge \u00e0 7h30 pour prendre le bus. Durant le trajet, nous nous sommes arr\u00eat\u00e9s \u00e0 plusieurs points de vue comme le Nez de B\u0153uf, la Rivi\u00e8re des Remparts, le Crat\u00e8re Commerson et le Pas de sable. Il y avait un peu de pluie pendant la randonn\u00e9e. Nous avons fait l\u2019aller-retour jusqu\u2019au Formica L\u00e9o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous sommes all\u00e9s manger \u00e0 Bois court (L\u2019horloge) puis nous avons admir\u00e9 le point de vue avant de rentrer au coll\u00e8ge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous avons pass\u00e9 une bonne journ\u00e9e malgr\u00e9 la pluie et la difficult\u00e9 de la randonn\u00e9e. C\u2019\u00e9tait aussi amusant car nous avons chant\u00e9 avec nos correspondants pendant le trajet du retour en bus. Les correspondants ont beaucoup appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 les diff\u00e9rents points de vue et la randonn\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, we went to the volcano with our pen pals. They joined us at 7:30am to take the private bus together. During the trip we stopped on some viewpoints like Nez de Boeuf, Rivi\u00e8re des Remparts, Crat\u00e8re Commerson. Before we arrived at Pas de sable the teachers made us close our eyes and open them again to be amazed by the beautiful viewpoint over the Pas de sable. When we were hiking it was raining a little bit and we walked until Formica L\u00e9o. We had lunch at Bois Court (L\u2019horloge) and then we admired the viewpoint before going back to the college.

We enjoyed the day and our pen pals really loved the hike and the viewpoints. In spite of the weather we were really happy to be together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le samedi, avant leur d\u00e9part, nous sommes <\/em>all\u00e9s<\/em> \u00e0 la plage avec tous les correspondants et les \u00e9l\u00e8ves de la LCE pour prendre du bon temps et se d\u00e9tendre. On a jou\u00e9 dans l’eau et dans le sable!!! C’\u00e9tait dr\u00f4le, ils ont mang\u00e9 des \u00ab\u00a0pains am\u00e9ricains\u00a0\u00bb avec nous. Et \u00e0 la fin de la journ\u00e9e, on a regard\u00e9 le coucher du soleil.<\/em>
