These two weeks were busily spent developing our knowledge and skills in the French language, forming lasting bonds with our host families and being immersed in the vibrant culture of the island. The trip was filled with adventure<span class=\"text_exposed_show\"> and excitement as we climbed near an active volcano, hiked up impressive mountainsides and swam in the aquamarine waters. On our first day, we were welcomed by our host families, enjoying a welcome picnic at the beach which was a lovely opportunity to meet everyone. Our time at school was spent giving presentations on Australia as well as experiencing subjects such as history, physics and sport in French. The R\u00e9unionnais students were fascinated with AFL and it quickly became very popular throughout the school. Weekends and afternoons were spent with our hosts, who went out of their way to make us a part of their families. They were kind and patient, helping us practise and improve our French. Coming back from the exchange we have all noticed a vast improvement in our understanding of the French language, becoming more relaxed when it comes to speaking and listening.
