On Tuesday, 2nd December we explored the verdant forest of Mare Longue. As the first biological natural reserve of La Réunion (1958), it symbolizes a sanctuary for the endemic and indigenous flora species (more or less 30% of the entire species of the island). Located on an young lava flow passage (300-400 years) in a wet tropical low height this forest remains one of the rarest primal original natural forest of the warm and humid regions of the globe.
