South Africa 2018 – Day 13 – by Dania

The end of our trip is near so today we went to Robben Island.

After more than one hour in the traffic we arrived at the Waterfront, there were lots of birds around us. We went in a souvenir shop then we went on a boat to Robben Island. When we arrived there, we visited the island on the bus. It was very nice to learn about the story of Robert Sobukwe : a political prisoner. We stopped at a cafe to have some snacks then continued the visit. We went where Nelson Mandela was forced to work breaking stones in a quary  and we saw like a little hill of rocks made by Nelson Mandela and other prisoners. After we listened to the story of an old prisoner, it was really good to hear it from someone who fought against Apartheid, who was put in prison for his political ideas. At the end we saw the cell of Nelson Mandela. We had a few minutes for shopping at the Waterfront too.

This day was wonderful, incredible !!
